With it being the official “Worlds Biggest Disc Golf Weekend,” I thought I’d highlight the sport of Disc Golf and the fantastic disc golf courses in San Diego. The idea behind the “Worlds Biggest Disc Golf Weekend” is to spread awareness about this hugely popular and quickly growing sport, and to encourage as many people as possible to play this particular weekend at any disc golf course.
One of the best things about the sport, in my opinion, is just enjoying the beautiful San Diego weather with a group of friends as you try your skills at this unique twist on the more mainstream sport of golf. The basic idea behind disc golf is you throw discs into metal nets, and similar to golf, your score is the number of throws it takes you to get the disc into the “hole.”
San Diego is home to numerous disc golf courses- in fact this weekend is the opening of the Cal State Univ. San Marcos course. Courses range from “free” to a nominal feel to play. Bring your own discs, or you can purchase them from most courses. For more information about the “Worlds Biggest Disc Golf Weekend,” check out the following site: http://www.wbdgw.com/index.html
